The White Wagtail breeds throughout Europe and Asia. Most populations are migratory and winter southwards in Africa, the Middle East and south Asia.

This sub-species is M. a. alboides which has a lot of black on the head and neck, a black back and a large white wing panel. Compare the birds shown on my European page.
