The White-throated Hummingbird is distributed in south-east Brazil and adjacent areas of Bolivia, Paraguay and Argentina. It is found in forest edges and open areas including gardens and is fairly common.

It has a medium-sized straight bill, a white throat patch and white on the centre of the belly

It feeds on nectar and insects.
