The White-fronted Ground-tyrant is distributed in central and south Peru, western Bolivia and the extreme north of Chile. It is found at 4,000 to 5,000 metres in bofedal bogs on the altiplano of the Andes.

White-fronted Ground-tyrant, Lauca N. P., Chile, February 2007 - click for larger image It is the largest ground-tyrant and looks pot-bellied. It has a white forehead and a white panel on the wings while the secondaries and wing coverts are edged silvery grey. The tail is black.

In flight the wings look translucent as you can see in photo 3.
