Cuba and Guatemala The Rose-breasted Grosbeak breeds in southern Canada and east and central USA. It winters in the West Indies, Central America and northern South America. See the distribution map at xeno-canto. It is found in forests and gardens where it feeds on seeds and fruits. In Cuba (photo 1) it is regarded as a rare transient or very rare winter resident. |

| Photos 1 and 3 show females with a very heavy pale bill, conspicuous white supercilium, whitish wing-bars and buffy underparts with dark brown streaks on the breast and flanks. The non-breeding male, seen here in photo 2, is similar but is more black than brown and usually has a hint of rose on its breast. | ||||
