The Paramo Pipit is distributed in the Andes from Venezuela through Colombia, Ecuador and Peru with disjunct populations in western Bolivia and north-western Argentina. See the distribution map at Birdlife International. It is found in páramo and puna grasslands at between 2,100 and 4,200 metres.
