The Opal-crowned Manakin is a Brazilian endemic found in 2 areas south of the Amazon. Firstly on the right bank of the lower Rio Tapajós, and, secondly, in eastern Pará with northwestern Maranhão.

It is olive-green above and yellow-green below with fleshy-pink legs, a heavy light grey bill and cream or yellow irises. The male has a whitish-blue crown.
