The Musician Wren is distributed throughout most of the Amazon Basin. It is found in the lower levels of the forest where its beautiful and rather haunting song is more likely to be heard before sighting the bird. There are some excellent recordings on xeno-canto.

This is not the case with the sub-species C. a. interpositus seen here which, apart from lacking this collar, has grey rather than rufous patches behind the eye.

It feeds on or near the ground preying on a variety of invertebrates.
