The Mountain Elaenia is distributed in the shrubby borders of montane forest and woodland in Central America, Colombia and Venezuela. See the distribution map at NatureServe.

Distinctive features are the yellowish eyering and the yellowish-olive underparts. It also has two pale yellowish wingbars which are just visible in photo 1.
