The Torrent Tyrannulet is distributed in Central America from Costa Rica to Panama and in South America in the Andes from Venezuela to northern Bolivia. See the distribution map at xeno-canto. As it name implies it is found on or near highland rivers and streams where it seeks insect prey on the rocks.
