As its name implies, it has a strong association with Moriche palms (Mauritia flexuosa) where it nests, suspending its basket nest from a palm frond. Away from the nest it is found at forest borders and in swampy areas. It is black with the crown, shoulders, rump and thighs yellow. There are illustrations in Ridgely & Tudor,, Volume 1, Plate 22; Hilty & Brown, Plate 45; and Ridgely & Greenfield, Plate 95. |
