The Grey Seedeater is distributed in Colombia, Venezuela and Trinidad. See the distribution map at NatureServe. It is common in semiopen and grassy areas.

Apart from its overall greyish colour with paler underparts, the distinctive feature is its yellow bill. The female is buffy-brown with a black bill.

The song is a series of trills and twitters.
