The Greenish Schiffornis is distributed in south-east Brazil and adjacent areas of Argentina and Paraguay. It is found in Atlantic Rain Forest, secondary woodland and gallery forest.

It is more often heard than seen since it tends to skulk low down in the undergrowth. It is olive-green with rufescent wings and tail and has a pale eye-ring.
