The Dwarf Tyrant-manakin is distributed throughout most of the Amazon Basin with the exception of the area north of the Amazon and east of the Rio Negro. See the distribution map at Birdlife International. It is found in low and mid-strata inside forest but rarely at the edges.

Dwarf  Tyrant-manakin, Cristalino, Mato Grosso, Brazil, December 2006 - click for larger image It is small and dull olive above; grey-olive to pale yellow below. The iris is pale and the tail is short. It can be difficult to see since the birds rarely move but their distinctive two-note call usually allows it to be spotted.
