The Yellow-fronted Whitestart is distributed in Eastern Cordillera of the Andes of south-west Venezuela and Colombia where it is found in montane forest and woodland between 2,400 and 3,400 metres. See the distribution map at Birdlife International.

Golden-fronted Redstart, Chingaza NP, Cundinamarca, Colombia, April 2012 - click for larger image The HBW and Birdlife International checklist has split this species from Golden-fronted Whitestart M. chrysops of the western and central cordilleras of the Andes. This latter has several plumage differences most notably the lack of white around the eye.
