The Cream-winged Cinclodes is distributed in the Andes from northern Peru to north-west Argentina. See the distribution map at Birdlife International.

Juvenile Bar-winged Cinclodes, Lauca NP, Chile, February 2007 - click for larger image It inhabits a variety of open grassland habitats usually near streams or rivers and often near human habitation.

Some authorities classify it as a sub-species of Bar-winged Cinclodes Cinclodes fuscus albiventris but this species is redder above and paler below with a pale, almost white wing-stripe.

Photo 1 shows an adult on the left just after feeding the juvenile on the right and photo 2 shows the juvenile.
