El Yeso, near Santiago, Chile January 2007 The Grey-flanked Cinclodes is distributed in Chile from Antofagasta southwards and in adjacent areas of Argentina. It breeds near streams in the Andes but spends the Austral winter lower down. |

It is a small cinclodes with a small, thin bill. The centre of the belly is white or pale grey and the rear flanks have a brownish tinge. The white throat contrasts with the greyish breast with white streaks. Wing linings are white which can show at the bend of the wing on a perched bird. | |||
