Intervales, São Paulo, Brazil April 2004 The Spix's Spinetail is distributed in south-east Brazil and adjacent areas of Paraguay, Argentina and Uruguay. It is found in open shrubby areas, woodland edges and cerrado, usually close to water. |

It has a rufous crown and rufous wing-coverts which contrast with the greyish, olive-brown upperparts and the grey underparts. It has a long, pointed greyish tail and a whitish upper throat with a black lower throat. | |||
