Brown Jacamar (Brachygalba lugubris)

The Brown Jacamar is distributed in 4 separate areas of Colombia, Venezuela, north-east Brazil and central Brazil. It is found in a wide variety of habitats but tends to be found on edges and in clearings of forest as well as in savannah woodland and along rivers.

It is very similar to the photo in HBW, Page 75 taken at Carajás by Luiz Claudio Marigo. However, compared to the illustration on Page 92, the white on the belly does not reach up to the breast and the base of both the mandible and the maxilla is pale yellow.
