The Andean Swift is distributed in the Andes of Peru, Bolivia, northern Chile and western Argentina. It is usually found in arid or semi-arid montane scrub but can be found in oasis valleys.

Andean  Swift, Putre, Chile, February 2007 - click for larger image It is a well marked swift with long, noticeably thin wings and a long, moderately forked tail. Above it shows a pale rump and white collar while below it is mainly whitish with a black belly and tail. There is a narrow white trailing edge to the secondaries.
