The Regent Parrot is distributed in the south-west of Western Australia with a disjunct population in the interior of south-east Australia. It is found in Eucalyptus woodland and surrounding mallee scrub as well as farmland, etc..

Male Regent Parrot, Cleland Wildlife Park, South Australia, September 2013 - click for larger image The male, seen here in photos 1 and 2 have gold shoulders contrasting with black flight feathers and a red band on the wing. The female, seen in photo 3, is much greener and shows less red on the wing.

These birds were in a very large aviary at Cleland Wildlife Park outside Adelaide.
