|Forest Raven Corvus tasmanicus
February / April 2006
The Forest Raven is distributed in Tasmania, where it is the only crow, along the southern coast of Victoria and in north-east New South Wales. It is found in a variety of habitats from forest to scrub and farmland.
|It is noted for having the most massive bill and the shortest tail of any Australian crow while its call is deep and slow.
There is an excellent table to help identify the sometimes tricky Australian crows at birdsqueensland.org.
