The Sardinian Warbler is distributed round the Mediterranean Basin. Some populations are sedentary while others migrate to north Africa during the winter. See the distribution map at xeno-canto. It is found in a variety of habitats from woodland to scrub mainly on islands or dry coastal areas.

Male Sardinian Warbler, Kato Zacro, Crete, October 2002 - click for larger image The male, seen here in photos 1, 2, 4 and 5, has a black cap, white throat and a reddish-brown eye-ring round a reddish eye. Otherwise it is dark grey above and a lighter grey below. The female, seen in photo 3, has a grey head and is brownish rather than grey.

It feeds on insects and fruit.
