The Moroccan Wagtail is a sub-species of White Wagtail which is distributed in western Morocco. The species White Wagtail breeds throughout Europe and Asia with some resident populations while others migrate southwards during the winter. See the distribution map at Birdlife International. It is found in a wide variety of habitats outside forests.

Moroccan Wagtail, Merzouga, Morocco, April 2014 - click for larger image It is distinguished from other sub-species mainly by its facial pattern with more black on the head with a white supercilium, moustache and neck patch. Compare with Pied Wagtail M. a. yarrellii and White Wagtail M. a. alba.
