Boumalne du Dades, Morocco The Long-legged Buzzard is resident in north Africa, the Arabian Peninsula, south-east Europe, the Middle East and central Asia. It is quite a large buzzard with long wings and a fairly long tail. The head looks smallish and the bill looks
relatively large. The subspecies found in North Africa is B. r. cirtensis which is smaller than the nominate with a paler and more rufous belly.
The commonest call is a short "mew" falling in pitch and very similar to the call of the Eurasian Buzzard B. buteo |
