Male Linnet, Aberlady Bay, East Lothian, Scotland, June 2002 - click for larger image The Common Linnet is found throughout most of Europe except the far north and into western Asia. See the distribution map at Birdlife International. It feeds on seeds particularly those from weeds and is to be found in woodland, farmland, etc., where there is access to wasteland and other weedy areas. The increased use of herbicides in modern agriculture has been a cause of decline in many areas.
