Greater Flamingo (Phoenicopterus ruber)

This is the same species of Flamingo that is found around the Caribbean and in the Galapagos but this subspecies, P.r. roseus, is much paler and is found from southern Europe to India and through Africa.

In Europe, they are found in shallow salty lagoons and salt-pans where they feed by filtering the water through their upturned bill.
