Golden Eagle are distributed across much of Europe, Asia and North America where there is suitable open and mainly mountainous terrain. It feeds on mammals such as haare, rabbit and squirrel as well as game birds and carrion.

Golden Eagle, Ulva, Mull Scotland June 2005 - click for larger image It is a large long-winged and long-tailed eagle. It is generally dark brown in colour with a lighter brown head and nape.

The 3rd photo shows a Kestrel in the same shot (it was mobbing the eagle) and this gives an indication of the size of the bird.
