The Cinereous Vulture is distributed in south Europe and central and southern Asia as far as north China, Mongolia and Manchuria. See the distribution map at Birdlife International. It is found in open areas in hills and mountains where it feeds mainly on carrion.

It is the largest Old World Vulture with a massive bill and blue-grey bare skin on the head.
