This is the only spoonbill to be found regularly in Europe. The adults have a black bill with yellow tip, a bushy crest, visible in the second photo, and a yellow collar during the breeding season. The juveniles have a dull yellow bill and black tips to the primaries.

They are found in southern Spain, Holland and occassionally in southern England as well as central Europe to China, India and Africa.
