The Fire-capped Tit is distributed in the Himalayas at middle altitudes from about 1,900 metres to about 3,500 metres. It is found in broadleaved and mixed forest

Male Fire-capped Tit, Punakha, Bhutan, March 2008 - click for larger image It is very small at 10 cms only marginally larger than a Winter Wren Troglodytes troglodytes. It has greenish upperparts with darker wings and yellowish underparts. The male in breeding plumage has an orange-red forecrown as can be seen in these photos.
