The Yellow-bellied Sunbird-asity is endemic to the rainforests of eastern Madagascar. See the distribution map at Birdlife International. It is found in the canopy and subcanopy from 1,100 metres to the tree-line at up to 2,650 metres.

These photos show a female. Both sexes have a long, decurved bill, short legs and bright yellow underparts. The breeding male also has a large blue wattle around the eye and black upperparts with iridescent blue edging. A pity I couldn't get a photo of this beauty.
