The Western Black-headed Oriole is distributed on either side of the Equator from West Africa to the Rift Valley. It is found in the canopy and mid-storey of lowland tropical forest.

Western Black-headed Oriole, Antutu Forest, Ghana, May 2011 - click for larger image It is similar to the Black-winged Oriole O. nigripennis which is found in the same area and habitat but it has greyer wings and a white patch on the edge of the wing.
