Liben Plains, Ethiopia The White-crowned Starling is distributed in the Horn of Africa. See the distribution map at Birdlife International. It is found up to 1,500 metres in grasslands, semi-arid and desert habitats often near human settlements as was the case with this flock. |

It is a large brown starling with a white crown, white vent and white eye. Above there is a green iridescent sheen. The immature has less streaking below and has a yellow bill with black tip. Photo 3 shows a bird approaching maturity. | |||
