The African Golden Oriole breeds in two distinct bands across Africa: one north of the Equator from West Africa to the Rift Valley and one south of the Equator. Outside the breeding season (i.e. in the dry season) it migrates north and south of these bands. It is found in wooded savanna with large trees.
