The Swamp Flycatcher is distributed in tropical Africa in disjunct areas from southern Mauritania to Zambia. It is found in vegetation near rivers, lakes and swamps.

Swamp Flycatcher, Mole NP, Ghana, June 2011 - click for larger image It is reported to normally nest in the abandoned nests of Ploceus weavers but, as you can see here, this individual is nesting in a hollow in a dead branch overhanging a large stream. The nest lining consisted of just a few feathers.
