Cassin's Flycatcher is distributed in tropical Africa from Sierra Leone to north-west Zambia. It is found exclusively in forest along rivers and streams where it is usually perched conspicuously on rocks or over-hanging branches.

It is ash-grey with blackish wings and tail and whitish throat and belly.
