Isalo, Madagascar The Sooty Falcon breeds in a few areas from Libya through North Africa to the Arabian Peninsula and Pakistan while it overwinters in Madagascar and adjacent coasts of south-east Africa. See the distribution map at Birdlife International. Because of its small and declining population it is classified as Vulnerable. |

It is similar to but smaller than Eleanora's Falcon F. eleonorae with even narrower wings. |
