Isalo, Madagascar
November 2016

The Sooty Falcon breeds in a few areas from Libya through North Africa to the Arabian Peninsula and Pakistan while it overwinters in Madagascar and adjacent coasts of south-east Africa. See the distribution map at Birdlife International. Because of its small and declining population it is classified as Vulnerable.

It is similar to but smaller than Eleanora's Falcon F. eleonorae with even narrower wings.
