The Narina Trogon is distributed throughout most of Africa south of the Sahara. See the distribution map at Birdlife International. It is found in forest and woodland.

Female Narina Trogon, Lake Langano, Ethiopia, January 2016 - click for larger image The male has a blue-green head and throat while the female, shown here, has a brown forehead, face and throat with a greyish band across the breast. It feeds mainly on insects which it swoops down on from the perch where it has been sitting motionless and so can be difficult to see until it moves.
