The Lemon Dove is distributed irregularly in Africa south of the Sahara - mainly in the east but with disjunct populations elsewhere including West Africa. See the distribution map at Birdlife International. It is found in forest where it forages for seeds and fruits in the leaf litter. Preferring deep shade it can be difficult to see well.
