The Western Bronze-naped Pigeon is distributed from Sierra Leone to Nigeria and into the Congo Basin. For a distribution map see Birdlife International. It is found in the forest and is usually in the canopy which makes it hard to see and harder to photograph.

Western Bronze-naped Pigeon, Bobori Forest, Ghana, June 2011 - click for larger image At this distance the main features are the dark brown breast and belly contrasting with the grey head indicating that this bird is a male and the broad pale terminal band in the tail. It feeds mainly on fruit.

Its call is a series of clear coos.
