Bogol Manyo Road, Ethiopia The Lappet-faced Vulture is distributed throughout much of Africa south of the Sahara and in parts of the Arabian Peninsula. See the distribution map at Birdlife International. It is found in open grassland and woodland where it feeds on carrion. |

It is classified as Endangered because of the rapid decline in the population mainly due to poisoning and persecution along with changes to habitat. We were lucky to see these two birds at a kill in Ethiopia. It is the dominant species of vulture in Africa and the other species have to wait their turn. | |||
