The Kori Bustard is the world's largest flying bird (though it is not often seen flying). It is distributed in eastern and southern Africa. See the distribution map at Birdlife International. It is generally found in open grasslands.

The male stands at 1.25 metres and can weigh up to 19 kilos. The female is significantly smaller at about 90cms and 6 kilos.
