The Arabian Bustard is distributed in a broad band south of the Sahara in Africa from the Atlantic to the Red Sea and in the south-west of the Arabian Peninsula. See the distribution map at Birdlife International. It is found in arid and desert habitats up to about 900 metres.

It is classified as Near Threatened because it is suffering from hunting and loss of habitat.
