The Grey-headed Batis is distributed in a broad band from north-east Nigeria to Ethiopia and Somalia. See the distribution map at Birdlife International. It is found in acacia woodland and subdesert grasslands where it feeds on insects which it gleans from the foliage.

Grey-headed Batis, Sof Omar, Ethiopia, January 2016 - click for larger image It is very similar to the Pygmy Batis B. perkeo but has a longer white supercilium and is found in different areas. These photos are of a male. The female has a chestnut breast band.
