The Senegal Batis is distributed in West Africa from Senegal to Cameroon. It is found in open woodland and dry scrub where it feeds on insects and spiders.

Male Senegal Batis, Shai Hills, Ghana, May 2011 - click for larger image The male, seen here in photo 1, has a black mask with a white supercilium above and a white throat below. There is a bold white bar on the wing and a black breast band above a white belly. The eye is yellow. The female (photo 2) has rufous on the supercilium and wing bar and pale chestnut on the breast band.

One vocalization is a short, buzzing note.
