The Ethiopian Cisticola is endemic to Ethiopia and Eritrea where it is found mainly near water in reeds and sedges but also in savanna and grassland. See the distribution map at Birdlife International.

Ethiopian Cisticola, Bale Mountains, Ethiopia, January 2016 - click for larger image It has a rufous crown and wing-panel and the mantle is streaked black and grey when in breeding plumage. In non-breeding plumage the upperparts are brighter rufous and the tail is longer.
