The Double-spurred Francolin is distributed in West Africa from Senegal and Gambia to Chad and the Central African Republic. There is a disjunct population in western Morocco. It is found in a variety of open habitats and is seldom far from human habitation.

The calls are a series of loud, grating phrases.
