near Bolgatanga , Ghana and Lake Ziway, Ethiopia The Dark Chanting-goshawk is distributed in sub-Saharan Africa with the exception of the Congo Basin, the south and west. See the distribution map at Birdlife International. It is found in open woodland and thornbush where it tends to perch conspicuously from where it glides down to the ground to catch its prey of reptiles, birds, rodents and insects. It also hunts on the ground. |
