Blanford's Lark is distributed in Eritrea and Ethiopia. See the distribution map at Birdlife International. Some authorities treat this sub-species of Blanford's Lark as a separate species - Erlanger's Lark C. erlangeri but apart from being darker and more heavily streaked there is little difference with the nominate.

Both sub-species are found in similar short grasslands and stony plains but C. b. erlangeri is found at between 1,900 and 3,600 metres while C. b. blanfordi is found at between 600 and 1,800 metres.
