Bobori Forest, Ghana The African Piculet is the only one of the 31 species of piculet to be found in Africa. It is distributed in the Congo Basin though there seem to be isolated populations in Ghana, the Ivory Coast and Liberia. |

It is found in humid forest
and forest edges including secondary growth and is generally
quite difficult to see. It has yellow-olive upperparts and grey
underparts. There is a red orbital ring and two short white
streaks behind the eye. The feet are also red.
